ESL AR T SPRING 2011 -- Classes 2 and 5

Hello Students:

Here's wishing you a happy President's Week - Yes, next week you have off and you will not return until Monday, February 28th.  Please remember to always show and do your best.  Also, remember that you have academic responsibilities in school and when you are away from school.  Hence, you have holiday homework.  Please read the following instructions for your homework.

1)  Finish writing assignments:  1)  Descriptive Paragraph about your and your culture.  2)  Descriptive compare and constrast paragraph about you and your partner's culture.  3)  Descriptive paragraph about you and your inside and outside characteristics.

4)  Draw a Mind Mirror of both outside characteristics (including adjectives and physical features), and inside characteristics (including positive and "needs improvement traits) of someone you know at home.

Holiday Homework - ESL / 6 -- Classes 3 and 4



Hello Students:  Here's wishing you a happy President's week vacation.  Remember to always show your best and fulfill your responsibilities.  Yes, you have academic responsibilities away from school (Hint-so do teachers).  Please read the following list of things to do for your holiday homework.  All work is due at the beginning of the first class that we meet upon returning to school.  We return on Monday, February 28th, 2011.

ESL/6
*Read everyday.  Read Chapters One to Eight, Pages One to Page 92.

--Use the "Record of Reading" Template to "log-in" your assignments.
*Fill in each hightlighted area we did in class.  These include:
--Title of Book
--Author of Book
--Genre
--Publisher
--Year Published

--Setting (time, place, sense of behavior during "that" time)
--Character names, characteristics and personality traits, and how other characters treat "that" particular character.
--Protagonist and reason
--Antagonist and reason

--Identify minor characters/provide a brief characterization of each one

--Identify 10 new unknown words (use back of booklet to list and identify)

**Continue to work as a Philanthropist, and work on your writing about making your partner into a STAR!  Work on 3 "Y" Charts for detailing (you may use your Journal to draw the "Y" charts and to formulate information.  (DO NOT TYPE AND/OR FINISH ESSAY AT HOME -- WE WILL NEED TO REFINE OUR IDEAS BEFORE COMPLETING THE ENTIRE ESSAY.)
